Cruisers, banana boards, retro rippers, short longboards..etc

Call them whatever you want, but its safe to say this is one trend that has seriously taken off!

The most obvious benefits of these boards is how small they are. Easy to carry, easy to toss in a backpack or locker and super fun to ride.

We carry a wide range of shapes, brands and styles from the plastic Stereo (pictured) and Penny boards to retro wood and fibreglass offerings like Dogtown, Sims, Alva, Zflex, Krooked, Element and many more.

If building your own is more your thing we’re stocked with various soft cruiser wheels and smaller trucks.

Cruise on by sometime and have a look..

Danny’s got wood

I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Danny Hagge since he was a wee lad that used to hang out at the Westbeach Ramp and drink 70 Jones Sodas per day.

Over the years he’s transformed himself from a pint sized ramp rat to a grown ass man running his own manly man’s business with his friend Eric Savics.

RIP Tom Sims

Sad to hear about the passing of Tom Sims. He was a pioneer in modern skateboarding as well as snowboarding and ripped at both. His brand [Sims] was one of the biggest in skateboarding through the 80′s and snowboarding in the 90′s.  RIP in peace Tom

Curb your enthusiasm

Its been a crazy summer around here with events and we’re not done yet…

Squeezing in on the last day of Summer 2012 – Blvd and Color Magazine present Slappy Days.  A just for fun event along the same lines as our infamous ‘skate or die’ 80′s jams in the past.

Slappy Days is a throwback to the early 90′s skate scene. Wheels were ridiculously small and pants were stupidly BIG.  In many ways it was the renaissance of modern street skating. When a new generation of kids with no prior knowledge of 80′s vert skating took to the streets and especially the curbs of every town in the country.

Join us Friday September 21st @ 5pm for some good old fashioned curb dancing on Expo Blvd at the aptly named ‘yellow mile’ curb located across from Rogers Arena.

There’s prizes from DC, Alien Workshop, Shorty’s and World Industries for tricks and outfits too!

Spread the word!

Battle clips galore

No shortage of media at this year’s Battle at Hastings III. Cameras were everywhere catching 4 hours of non stop shredding.

So much rad skating went down that everyone seemed to get their own take on what happened.

Here’s some vids from Dane @ Supra Dist, Mike Graveline and Sheldon Barr/Brian Caissie for Push.ca.

Battlefield Hastings

Safe to say the Battle at Hastings III did not disappoint this past Saturday.  The weather was perfect, the crowd was stoked and with $5k for first place up for grabs – the skaters came for a fight.

Its been said that the battlefield is a scene of constant chaos. The winner will be the one who controls that chaos, both his own and the enemies.
